STELLA OLSON SCHOLARSHIPS

In 2025 The Stella-Olson Foundation is proud to offer the following Scholarships open to Nebraska Students, across the State.  YOU CAN APPLY FOR EACH SCHOLARSHIP YOU ARE ELIGIBLE FOR.  Applications due by WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 12th by the close of business. In 2025 we will award:

The Tony Pane Scholarship

Presented by the Pane Family in Honor of Longtime Coach and Omaha Baseball Legend Tony Pane:

​CRITERIA:
To be used for entry or continuance in an Omaha Area Catholic Academic School Program or College.  A student must exemplify strong character, a steward of community service, recognized by his/her classmates as an example of leadership.

Qualifications:

Male or Female Scholar Athlete or Student who has one or more of the following qualifications and is attending any school in the Omaha Metropolitan Area:
Was a member or your Parents/Grandparents attended Our Lady of Lourdes and/or
Parents or Grandparents attended Archbishop Ryan HS and/or
Parents or Grandparents played baseball for Millard South and/or
Parents or Grandparents were Omaha High School Coaches and/or

Male or Female applicant was recommended to The Pane Family for this Scholarship

DEADLINE TO APPLY is Friday February 14th, Awarded Saturday March 1st

The Bill Olson (male scholarship)

Presented by the Olson Family and Stella-Olson Foundation in Honor of Longtime Coach and Omaha Baseball Legend Bill Olson:

***DEADLINE TO APPLY is Friday February 14th, Awarded Saturday March 1st.  Sign off and note from either two teacher administration staff of why you are deserving OR: The same letter from your High School HC and a one of the above staff.  A personal essay from you explaining why you should be awarded this scholarship.  To be used during the 2025-26 Academic Year.

​CRITERIA:

To be used for entry or continuance in a VOC-ED, a 2 year or 4-year institution. To be used for academies, secondary and NCAA and/or NAIA institutions as well as NCAAJC.   A student must exemplify strong character, be a steward of community service, recognized by his/her classmates as an example of leadership.

Male Scholar Athlete or Student who has one or more of the following qualifications and is attending any school in the Omaha Metropolitan Area:

Was a member or your Parents/Grandparents attended Omaha NW HS.  Or played in the Keystone Program.

Parents or Grandparents attended Omaha Northwest or were instructed by Legendary Coach Bill Olson.

Parents or Grandparents played baseball/softball, or any Varsity Sport for Omaha Northwest.

Parents or Grandparents were Omaha High School Coaches.

Parents or Grandparents were selected to any All-State Nebraska Team.

CRITERIA:  To be used by any HS Senior attending Omaha Metropolitan Technical CC looking to obtain a Culinary Degree and/or specializing in Bakery specific certification at Omaha Metro Technical CC
Qualifications:  Was/are an employee or your Parents/Grandparents were/are employed by Orsi’s.  Parents or Grandparents attended Pope Paul VI.   Parents or Grandparents attended Bancroft Elementary.  Parents or Grandparents attended St Patrick's Catholic School

Ray S and Elly Lukowski  Catholic Schools Inaugural Scholarship

Presented by The Tim and Mandy Lukowski Family.

CRITERIA:  Show outstanding leadership as a student, student / athlete, or are involved in any service club or HS Extracurriculars Activity

Qualifications:  You or a family member attended St. Stanislaus, St. Bridgett's, St. Rose or St. Gerald's or was involved as a volunteer at the Holy Family Shrine.   Or, had a family member who was a Deacon in the Catholic Archdiocese.

You, your parents or grandparents attended Omaha South, Archbishop Ryan, or Omaha Gross Catholic, or Creighton Prep, Marian, Mercy, or Duchene. 

Your parents or grandparents were American Service Veterans or were employed by The City of Omaha or any railroad while in Omaha.

The George Stilen (1965 Archbishop Ryan/Omaha Pepsi) Inaugural scholarship

Was a member or your Parents/Grandparents attended Archbishop Ryan, St. Joseph's, Buena Vista HS

Parents or Grandparents participated in any South Omaha Little League or Parochial League baseball or softball organization.
Parents or Grandparents attended Archbishop Ryan, or were related to any member of the Archbishop Ryan Baseball Team from 1958 to 1989 (include Archbishop Ryan, and/or Pius the VI or St Jospeh's from 1960 to 1989
Parents or Grandparents worked for Omaha Pepsi, played baseball for Creighton University, 
Parents or Grandparents were Omaha High School Coaches

Parents or Grandparents went to St Anne's Grade School, were/are members of St Frances Cabrini or St Anne's Church, or Grade School 

Parents or Grandparents were an Army Veteran, or worked for the US Postal Service.

 

The Standard of Excellence (academics / athletics / community)  Scholarship

***DEADLINE TO APPLY is Wednesday 02/12/2025 Awarded Saturday March 1st.  Sign off and note from either two teachers or administration staff of why you are deserving OR: The same letter from your High School HC and a one of the above staff.  A personal essay from you explaining why you should be awarded this scholarship.  To be used during the 2025-26 Academic Year.

CRITERIA and QUALIFICATIONS:

Attended any OPS or Catholic Archdiocese School

GPA of at least 2.80

Exhibited Leadership and Community Stewardship in and out of their Academic and Scholastic Career.

Involved in several academic, club, or athletic endeavors during your HS Career.

 

WeIsStrong Cancer Warrior Scholarship (male)

***DEADLINE TO APPLY  is Wednesday 02/12/2025Awarded Saturday March 1st.  Sign off and note from either two teachers or administration staff of why you are deserving OR: The same letter from your High School HC and a one of the above staff.  A personal essay from you explaining why you should be awarded this scholarship.  To be used during the 2025-26 Academic Year.

CRITERIA and QUALIFICATIONS:

Presented to the young man who is a Nebraska HS Student that has been affected by any form of cancer in his life. Whether it is himself, a parent, or sibling.   To be awarded to the "warrior" who has battled/is battling the effects of this disease in his scholastic, academic, athletic, activities and home life.

Omaha Chik-Fil-A Scholarship

CRITERIA and QUALIFICATIONS:

Awarded to an Omaha Central, Westside, North, South, Bryan, Gross Catholic, Marian, Mercy, Duchesne, Bellevue East or West, Buena Vista, Creighton Prep, Roncalli, Benson or alternative school in those Districts who has displayed courage, leadership, desire to be an outstanding part of his/her community and be an example to others in his/her classroom, peer and activities groups, family and community.

This awarded individual displays all of these traits and has a desire for any form of post HS Education, has excelled over personal, economic, or any overwhelming hardships to succeed in his or her community as a young person.

                                                                         Dwayne Hosey- "Hosey's Heroes" Scholarship

CRITERIA and QUALIFICATIONS:

A male or female scholar athlete who has continually displayed the characteristics of leadership, overcoming overwhelming odds, has been a leader and student mentor in and out of the classroom over their scholastic career.

One who has demonstrated a strong desire to compete, lead, overcome and develop themselves to have an impact in the community during their journey into and during adulthood.  Open to all individuals currently that are Seniors in Omaha or Council Bluffs.
